LGAT Airport

G/A/G service position in LGGG ATC facilities back in 70s. Frequencies used: 5638 KHZ AM during day time and 3015 KHZ AM during night time.
Messages exchanged: Deps, Metars/Tafs etc, between aircrafts or ground stations and Transfer messages with the nearby FIR's. (Mainly with Cairo FIR because for the other FIRs like ROMA Fir, the wireless mode was replaced by fix telephone lines). To the left of the console the switches to remote control the transmitter and receiver (main or steadby) and buttons for other functions like interphone communication with other ATC units. To the upper right of the console the SELCAL unit to enter the four-letter code to call a specific flight.
There were two G/A/G and one supervisor positions. In the same room was the VOLMET recording unit for the "ATHINAI VOLMET" broadcasts on VHF.
A 5/5 HF contact was not rare with the Olympic's aircrafts crews, in a distance less than an hour away after take-off from KJFK airport!

LGMK (Mykonos) Airport AFIS service/facilities in 70's
From left to right: The VHF T/R for the A/G communications, the wind direction/velocity meter, the type-machine for typing directly the received CW message, the main and spare receivers.
The operator beyond his main duties (AFIS, AFTN) was responsible for editing the METAR of the airport and carry on all the remaining tasks...

I feel lucky that I've flew with this legendary aircraft in an educational trip from LGAT to LGRP.

The Douglas DC-3 aircraft was used by HCAA to perform the Flight Check of radio aids (ILS, VOR and NDB) in the LG area.

Home Flight Simulator Cockpit

Above my brother's flight sim.
Five monitors for external views, three monitors for instrument panel and 3 networked PC's were used in order to support this configuration. The hardware AP and radio consoles, along with good sceneries and updated AIRACS contribute to high realistic simulation.
I've made an ILS approach to LGLM airport, and the feeling was near to of what i used to see from a real cockpit .
